With the recent COVID-19 school closures, staff and residents at the MCH Boys Ranch are finding numerous ways to keep busy. The Boys Ranch offers experiences for youth and staff to enjoy the outdoors and utilize Ranch resources in groups of no more than 10 people, as recommended by local and state leaders and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Boys Ranch staff lead bike rides, kayaking and hikes during the daytime. The gym and recreational facilities are open for basketball and other games. Youth also took advantage of some rainy weather one day by competing in a mud run.
In the evenings, the groups enjoy cookouts with roasted marshmallows and hotdogs. The staff also rotate an outdoor movie night for each home to watch a show on a projector screen.
“The Boys Ranch team is doing an excellent job creating, planning and implementing opportunities for our youth to participate in fun activities,” said Laura Bonner, administrator of the Boys Ranch. “We are blessed to have an abundance of outdoor experiences available for our youth and employees. I am very proud of and thankful for the Ranch team and their efforts during this time.”
