Transition Services helps former residents and children served through foster care make a successful transition to independent living and adjust to college or the workforce. The program serves MCH graduates ages 18 to 25.
Since 1890, Methodist Children’s Home (MCH) has responded to the ever-changing needs of children, youth and families. A new program beginning January 2024 at the MCH Boys Ranch, located 10 miles northeast of Waco in Axtell, continues this legacy.
The number of youth today experiencing harm and possessing elevated, more complex needs is at an unprecedented level. Unfortunately, the gap continues to widen between this vulnerable population and access to supportive caregivers who are willing, trained and licensed to provide specialized care.
The call for MCH to support the youth of today is guided by God’s wisdom and supported by the agency’s “Imagine 2028” strategic plan. MCH programming will continue to evolve to remain relevant and in touch with the needs of families and communities served.
This involves expanding youth services offered at the Boys Ranch beyond the basic care residential program on the Waco campus. Admission will be reserved for male children from private and/or DFPS or contracted placements requiring a higher level of care and identifying as moderate-plus placement.
MCH Boys Ranch Residential Services Program provides supportive and strengths-based services to children in placement and their caregivers. We are charged with equipping children and caregivers with tools and resources that will promote healthy, healing relationships, caregiving practices and interactions, and promote a connectedness to a network of support. Services at the Boys Ranch will be extensive and focus on safety, guidance, education, and expert emotional and spiritual support.
The primary goal of this program is to provide a safe environment for young men whose past experiences leave them very few, if any, options for placement. In doing so, Boys Ranch residents will be empowered to flourish and discover their God-given potential through innovative, trauma-proven services.
