New Mexico is called the “Land of Enchantment.” It is known for its desert and mountain landscapes, Southwestern culture, flavorful cuisine, and outdoor adventure. With all that it offers, unfortunately there is another side to New Mexico. Statistics show families in the state are struggling. Methodist Children’s Home identified the extreme need in New Mexico and opened two offices to serve families in its communities.
Four years ago, Marissa Smith volunteered to help a member of the church where she worked, First Woodway Baptist Church, start a support group for adoptive parents. On Wednesdays there was a program that was offered; it ended up changing my life.”
The mission of Methodist Children’s Home is to offer hope to children, youth and families through a nurturing, Christian community. However, MCH understands these children need to be shown grace and love. Youth are reminded of the true meaning of Christmas and are able to take in holiday experiences that are meant to build childlike anticipation and joy throughout the season.
