In March 2020, the nation was virtually shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. As stay-at-home orders were put in place, people altered their way of life. Methodist Children’s Home staff quickly adjusted its services to give many in its care a much-needed feeling of safety and security during an unpredictable time.
Members of the Methodist Children’s Home “Staff on Standby” (SOS) team are helping prepare MCH students for their first day of school. The SOS program is a new initiative at MCH designed for employees who do not serve in direct childcare roles but want to support the childcare program.

In early 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic reached the United States, affecting lives all across the nation. Communities in which Methodist Children’s Home (MCH) serves were hit by the crisis and families faced increased hardship due to school closures, shelter-in-place orders and job loss or wage reductions. However, MCH stepped in to meet the needs of its children, youth and families.
MCH Family Outreach in Waco was recently blessed by a donation that some might say is worth its weight in gold. Brailee Welch, who works at her grandfather’s business Quality Parts Supply, contacted Methodist Children’s Home asking if she could donate 300 rolls of toilet paper in light of the shortages being seen in stores. Our MCH Bulldogs celebrated Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 18. The six-man football team defeated Parkview Christian 57-12 at Bulldog Field. Congratulations to Joseph and Tianna who were named Homecoming King and Queen! Senior Court nominees were: Lena, M’Kenzie, Faith, Reggie, Solomon, and Elijah.
