New Marek Home Opens At Boys Ranch, Welcomes First Residents

The Marek Home at the MCH Boys Ranch welcomed its first residents this summer. Joe Marek, his daughter, and son-in-law visited the home ahead of its opening, which he gave in loving memory of his wife, Janell Hankins Marek. Mrs. Marek was a lifelong Methodist and a generous supporter of MCH from childhood. Trey Oakley, MCH president and CEO, Tony Stewart, senior director for programs (Boys Ranch), Clint Speckmiear, lead architect (John Erwin Construction), and several members from the MCH department for advancement guided the family through the Marek Home and shared about progress in the expansion of the Boys Ranch residential program. Also set to open in 2025 is the Knight Home.
Our Board of Directors also recently gathered at the Marek Home with MCH leadership as part of their quarterly meeting agenda. We are blessed by the support of our Board of Directors, donors and partners who have helped realize God’s plan for our Boys Ranch — and the residents who will discover hope and healing in these new homes.

MCH Celebrates Successful $500K Day Matching Challenge
On July 8, MCH hosted $500K Day, a one-day online matching gift challenge. $500K Day began in 2014 as $100K Day and has grown through the years. Donors throughout Texas and New Mexico and beyond anticipate and look forward to participating in this annual event. Through this year’s initiative, $517,169.12 was raised from 592 donations. Every dollar raised supports the direct care of those we serve.
Kelly Lawson, senior director for advancement, said, “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, our annual matching gift challenge continues to be a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together in support of our mission. Each gift helps us extend the love of God to the children, youth and families we serve, and we are grateful for each individual and church group that participated.”
