Although this year looked a little different, MCH graduates were commended for their achievements with a special Baccalaureate service and graduation ceremony this month. Fourteen students from the MCH charter school earned their high school diplomas this spring.
The charter school is operated in partnership with the University of Texas-University Charter School system. After the COVID-19 pandemic hit the nation, students began distance learning in their homes.
On Friday, May 15, MCH hosted a senior parade through the Waco campus where each student rode in a decorated vehicle while staff, family and their peers cheered them on with signs and noisemakers. The following Sunday, a Baccalaureate worship service maintained social distancing standards by allowing only seniors to attend and sit spaced apart. Trey Oakley, president and CEO of MCH, delivered the message.
Seniors were able to walk the stage during a graduation ceremony at Harrell Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 22. The ceremony was attended by seniors and presenters sitting spaced apart while family and friends viewed the ceremony live from a separate location or online. Students were presented with their diplomas and then celebrated with family and friends following the ceremony.
Congratulations to our 2020 spring graduates Alyssa, Dremon, Johnnie, Joseph, Tianna, Jerry, M’Kenzie, Eli, Solomon, Jasmine, Nehemiah, Faith, Dustin and Daniel!
