WACO, Texas — Dr. Carolin Sinkfield of New Braunfels, Texas, has been elected Chairperson of the Board of Methodist Children’s Home (MCH), a 136-year-old social service ministry serving children, youth and families across Texas and New Mexico.
Sinkfield has served on the MCH Board of Directors since 2021. Her term as Chairperson began in June. She succeeds Les Leskoven of Corsicana, Texas, whose leadership helped guide the ministry through a season of growth and strategic advancement.
A lifelong educator, advocate and servant leader, Sinkfield brings more than five decades of experience in education, nonprofit governance and community service to the role. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University, a Master of Education from Texas Tech University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word.
Throughout her distinguished career, Sinkfield served as a special education teacher, vision specialist and program coordinator before joining higher education, where she taught and mentored future educators as a faculty member at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio and Wayland Baptist University. Her professional work has focused on supporting vulnerable learners, advancing educational equity and preparing leaders to serve diverse communities.
In addition to her service on the MCH Board, Sinkfield has held numerous leadership roles with faith-based and nonprofit organizations, including Women’s Global Connection, Project Transformation Rio Texas, the San Antonio Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she currently serves as president of the Usher Board.

Since joining the Board, Sinkfield has been a dedicated advocate for MCH. Her experience in governance, leadership development and community engagement has strengthened the Board’s work and helped advance the organization’s vision for serving children, youth and families across its service area.
