Q&A with Karina Ramirez, receptionist for Waco campus

Karina 2014

Karina Ramirez, receptionist, is our first impression when people visit Methodist Children’s Home Waco campus. Karina is located in the foyer of the Administration building and extends a huge welcome to all guests and staff who enter the building. We sat down with Karina to learn more about her role at MCH.

Q:   How did you hear about MCH?
A: I only knew of MCH by word of mouth, so I decided to look at the MCH website.  Once there, I learned of the mission, history and saw pictures of the youth being served.  I had been looking for an opportunity to jumpstart my career and this organization really appealed to me, so I applied.  The rest is history.

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: My favorite part of my job is helping others. When I get to help someone out it makes me feel accomplished. My job allows me to assist several departments, such as Human Resources, Outreach and Technology. Along with answering phones, greeting people and sorting mail, I am often called to help interpret for staff and families.

Q: What do you think about MCH?
A: MCH is the best atmosphere I have ever worked in! The mission and what MCH stands for makes it even better. My fellow coworkers are caring and welcoming. Although I may not be on the front lines of childcare, I want my coworkers to know I think they do a great job. I feel blessed to be part of a team who make a difference in children’s lives.
